I got up very late yesterday. I looked out of the window and saw that the weather was bad. So I thought for some time and decided that I had time to myself. Suddenly the telephone rang. I came up to the telephone and took the receiver. My Friend Nick called. He said that it was his day off and invited me to his place. I spent the whole day there. First we talked about our problems; then we watched TV, there was an interesting American film which we liked, then we had tea in the kitchen and talked again. We listened to some music and when I looked at the watch I saw that it was 8 in the evening. I thought I must be off and said goodbye to Nick. When I came home my parents asked me, "You had a good time?" "Yes," I answered, "I certainly did." But I was sorry, I did not write a single page on that day.

Ответ на вопрос
When I answered the telephone this morning, I knew that the woman had dialed the wrong number. But it took her a long time to find out. She said her name was Mrs. Mills and asked if I was Dr. Cooper's secretary. I told her that she had not gotten the right number, but I did not think she was listening to me. She told me she wanted to cancel her two o'clock appointment because her husband was ill and she had to take care of him. I told her I was very sorry to hear that, but she still had the wrong number. Then she heard what I said. She wanted to know why she had not been told right away that she had the wrong number. Before I could answer her, she hung up.At first I was a little upset about it, but later in the evening I decided it was really quite funny. I wanted to try calling my sister and tell her about it. It so happened that I dialed the wrong number. And by a fantastic coincidence, it was Mrs. Mills. You can imagine how astonished I was. I tried to explain that I had made a mistake, but she was not listening. She just wanted to know how I had gotten her telephone number. She said she could not understand why I was bothering her. I tried to explain again, but she talked so much and so fast that I could not interrupt her even to say that I was sorry. Finally, I hung up. I still wanted to speak to my sister, but I was afraid I might get that woman's number again. As a result, I did not use the telephone for the rest of the day.
