1. Выбрать одну аутентичную газету (BBC News; The New York Times; The Guardian и пр.).
2. Провести анализ заголовков (7-10). Ответить на вопросы:
- Which of the following kinds of word are omitted from the headlines? articles, auxiliary verbs, main verbs, nouns, pronouns.
- Which of the following verb forms are used? to + infinitive, present simple, past simple, past participle.
- Which of the following are used? abbreviations, commas, full stops, exclamation marks.
3. Что делает заголовок запоминающимся? На основе выбранных заголовков ответить на вопросы:
- Are there any words with more than one meaning?
- Do they contain any cultural references?
- Are there any cases of alliteration (the use of the same sound or sounds, especially consonants, at the beginning of several words that are close together)?
Is the emphatic language used (words which have a stronger effect)?
4. Сравнить заголовки авторитетных новостных изданий и таблоидов (broadsheet vs. tabloid) (3-5). Есть ли принципиальные различия?)
