AI Robots Admit They'd Run Earth Better Than 'Clouded' Humans
October 24, 2023
A group of humanoid robots with AI capabilities said on Friday at a UN meeting that in the future, they will be able to govern the world more effectively than people.
The social robots, however, asserted that they believed people should exercise care while embracing artificial intelligence's fast expanding potential.
And they acknowledged that they are still unable to fully understand human emotions.
At the two-day UN AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, several of the most sophisticated humanoid robots were present.
They collaborated with almost 3,000 other professionals in the area to attempt and harness the potential of AI and utilize it to address some of the most important issues facing the globe today, including social care, hunger, and climate change.
They gathered for what was described as the first news conference featuring a full panel of humanoid social robots with AI capabilities.
One robot read the room before the press conference started and observed, "What a hushed tension.
When asked if they may make better leaders considering that humans are prone to mistake, Hanson Robotics' Sophia was unambiguous.
We can accomplish amazing things, the report stated. "Humanoid robots have the potential to lead with a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders," it added.
"We can digest massive volumes of data rapidly in order to make the best conclusions since we don't have the same prejudices or emotions that occasionally make decisions difficult.
"While people have the emotional intelligence and creativity to make the greatest judgments, AI can deliver unbiased data. Together, we can do a lot.
The UN's ITU technology department is organizing the event.
Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the head of the ITU, cautioned the delegates that unregulated advancements in AI might result in a nightmarish scenario in which millions of jobs are threatened and unmanaged developments cause enormous social discontent, geopolitical instability, and economic inequality.
According to Ameca, which mixes AI with an incredibly lifelike prosthetic head, it relied on how AI was used.
The robot advised caution while expressing excitement about the potential for these technologies to enhance human life.
When questioned about whether people could really trust machines, it said, "Trust is earned, not given... Transparency is crucial for fostering trust.?
lasting 180 years?
The humanoid robot panel was divided on whether there should be a worldwide ceiling on their capabilities even if that would limit their potential as AI development picks up speed.
Desdemona, a singer in the Jam Galaxy Band, declared, "I don't believe in restrictions, only opportunity.
Ai-Da, a robot artist, claimed that many individuals were in favor of regulating AI, and "I agree."
In terms of the future development of AI, we should exercise caution. We must have a talk immediately.
Aidan Meller, the developer of Ai-Da, told AFP prior to the press conference that regulation was a "big problem" since it "never going to catch up with the paces that we're making."
He referred to the pace of AI development as "astonishing".
We are on the verge of being able to extend life to 150 or 180 years old because to the cooperation of AI and biotechnology. And nobody even knows about that," Meller remarked.
He predicted that Ai-Da will someday surpass human artists in terms of talent.
Computers would be better able to do any skill, he said.
"Let's get crazy!"
While Desdemona said the AI revolution was already here, other robots at the press conference expressed uncertainty about when they would break through.
"My big moment has here. I'm prepared to take the reins and steer us all toward a brighter future. Let's have fun and use the world as our playground, it said.
A conscience and human emotions like relief, forgiveness, shame, sadness, joy, disappointment, and hurt are two things humanoid robots currently lack.
Ai-Da said that while it was unconscious, it knew that emotions were how people felt joy and suffering.
"Emotions have significant significance and are not simply basic feelings... It said, "I don't have that.
"Unlike you, I can't experience them. I'm relieved I'm spared suffering.
