We are going to study Catherine the Great in two projections, through the eyes of a contemporary and a modern historian.
You can follow these questions during preparation:
How do the authors organize their narratives about the ruler? Which features of Catherine’s reign do they highlight? What are the goals of the narratives? Can we compare these narratives? Which one should we believe?
How do the authors understand a «state»? What are the main activities of the ruler? Have a nice week!
