A company is considering hiring you to set up and maintain part of its IT operations. As part of the interview, you must submit the project below for review.
Project outline
Virtualisation is a technology that can generate virtual instances of computer resources for multiple uses derived from a single hardware host. There are several virtualisation technologies available that can virtualise the operating system, storage, networks, etc.
Virtualisation technology is known for its ease of setup and added cost optimisation with higher processing efficiency. The virtualisation environment shares the host resource components such as memory, CPU, disk space, and network interfaces. It can help organisations to scale their computation resources. Virtual machines are a popular hardware virtualisation user-managed through a hypervisor.
Project description/detail
Question: What is virtualisation, and how does virtualisation work?
Question: What is virtualisation in terms of cloud computing?
Question: What are the advantages of virtualisation in cloud computing?
In this project, you’ll do a deep dive into virtualisation by answering all the questions listed above and additional questions your research will uncover regarding this concept. The aim is to have a more complete picture regarding virtualisation and virtualisation in the cloud.
You’ll be expected to show a practical setup of a Type 2 Hypervisor virtualisation demo and, if possible, cloud-based Type 1 Hypervisor virtualisation services.
Possible resources required
• VMware Workstation or VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox.
• Windows Server.
• Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise Ed.
• Linux Desktop.
• Linux Server.
Additional notes
You’re not limited to just the three core questions being asked. You’re encouraged to find more questions during your research and answer them.
