Research paper: Students will create an ideological profile of the party selected. This means evaluating views and attitudes of party political program and its leaders, as well as its performance when it was in power (if it was!) regarding each topic in political theory we will cover during the semester. Hence, students will conduct research on the selected party's positions on freedom, justice, equality, nationalism, cosmopolitanism, feminism, etc. Ideally, students will do this every week and by the end of semester they will accumulate an ideological profile report of the selected party. The grade is broken like this: 30% for covering all topics (topics are listed in the schedule below, starting with “Power and State”), 40% for demonstrated understanding of class material (for example, what is power, what is state, what is liberty, etc.), and 30% for grammar, editing, and formatting. The deadline to submit the Research Paper is May 15 at 23:59h. If you are late to submit research paper, you will be penalized by 20% of your grade.
