Task B Politeness
Compare how non-Western and Western cultures embody the concept of ‘face’ in interactions where there is a power imbalance.
Refer to Brown and Levinson, and to Goffman, but do so critically, using your own cultural knowledge as a valid resource.
Refer to specific examples, using a transcription of the language used if this is relevant, to back up your point of view.
A suggested outline is:
1) Introduction
2) Presentation of the theories which will be critically analysed
