Lexicology
1. Pick out a word and a word combination used in their contextual/figurative meaning, which is a result of a semantic shift, and analyze them semantically. State the type(s) of meaning transference and explain your choice.
2. Pick out any polysemantic word and provide a detailed analysis of its semantic structure. Prove that it may enter different synonymic chains.
3. Find in the text synonymous words or expressions to form at least 2 synonymic chains. Characterize the resulting chains (find the dominant and explain your choice, determine common and differential features of the members, state the synonymic type these words can be referred to).
4. Find a phraseological unit and analyze it in terms of a) its semantic characteristics, including the type of transference; b) the type of phraseological units it belongs to; c) its origin, if possible.
5. Analyze the text in terms of its possible territorial belonging. Illustrate your choice with lexical, grammatical and other characteristics peculiar to the variant / dialect you believe the text belongs to.
